The series is based on characters and elements appearing in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris and focuses on the early relationship between the renowned psychiatrist and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. How is this character/cast different? The man who plays Hannibal should have a nordic accent and a flat, monotone voice based on his performance in Casino Royale.....I would be afraid that Hopkins owns this character too deep. The characters are fantastic, the acting is fantastic. I also give props for how they treat females in the show, some male characters from the books have been changed to female because Bryan Fuller wanted more females in the show, and not just as victims, like a lot of other crime shows use women to be - I think I've seen more male victims rather than female.I really hope it doesn't get cancelled though, Bryan has done some amazing shows but they seem to get cancelled after a few seasons, even when critics love the show. Cult Icon Posted September 7, 2016 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Which hannibal do you guys like better- Hopkins or Mads? I obviously like Hopkins better but Mads does a good job anyway. I definitely feel like Mads is overdressed for the character. He's too gaudy. I feel like it's not appropriate for the character at all. He's not a gangster with a pimp cane.
