Interview from Cosmopolitan,2011

We chatted to Candice about her life as a model.

Name: Candice Lee Jolliffe

From: George originally, but I moved to Cape Town in 2010.

Age: 20

Started modelling: Three and a half months ago.

Before modelling: I was teaching horse riding and riding professionally.

How it started: Friends kept telling me I should model. I went to Boss to see if they had promo jobs. They told me there weren't any promo jobs but they did have a modelling job for me.

First shoot destination: Seychelles for Sports Illustrated. Maldives is the only other place I've been.

Favourite shoot location: Maldives - because we've been able do things like go snorkelling. I did have a lot of fun in Seychelles too though.

Hobbies and interests: I generally do a lot of sport and am very active. I'm a farm girl, so we do arb things like trying to stand on a paddle-ski in the middle of the dam. I'm very active out of habit. I don't shop.

Languages: English and very bad Afrikaans.

Worst thing about modelling: Not being a very fashion-oriented person I do get a bit confused when they speak about makeup and skin tones and the different fabrics and styles.

Best thing about modelling: Meeting all the different kinds of people. Also, the travelling and experience and getting to work in environments I'd never be in otherwise.

Plans for modelling: I don't know. I'll see where it takes me. I don't have a set plan, but I'd love to continue.

Advice for people who want to start modelling: Stay who you are; don't sell your soul. Make sure what you're doing is what you're okay with. You'll enjoy it a lot more than the people who do stuff just for the money and the name.

Favourite moment on the COSMO Swimwear shoot: I have a few! Swimming with the whale shark was amazing.
