It will be directed by Baz Luhrmann, and will star Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. "We are thrilled to return to a country, place and festival that has always been so close to our hearts."5]Luhrmann pointed out that his film Strictly Ballroomwas screened in Cannes 21 years ago. But there is more Gatsby history in the region as well.5]"F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote some of the most poignant and beautiful passages of his extraordinary novel just a short distance away at a villa outside Saint-Raphaël," Luhrmann said in the statement.5]The opening night will be May 15 for the festival, which runs until May 26. Although quite honestly, I'd worry about any project with Luhrmann's name attached to it. The guy's incapable of anything approaching subtlety.
