Star Trek star Chris Pine arrested in New Zealand

Hollywood heart-throb Chris Pine has been arrested for allegedly drink driving in New Zealand.

Pine, 33, starred alongside Kiwi actor Karl Urban in Star Trek, in which he played the role of Captain James T Kirk.

He has been in New Zealand for the filming of the post-apocalyptic blockbuster Z for Zachariah.

Canterbury police confirmed this afternoon a 33-year old American national was stopped during a routine drink-drive operation near Methven, Mid-Canterbury, early on Saturday March 1.

"He has been charged with driving with excess blood alcohol and will appear in the Ashburton District Court on Monday 17 March," police said.

Pine, who is also well known for his role as Jack Ryan, stars alongside Oscar-nominated Chiwetel Ejiofor and The Wolf of Wall Street's Margot Robbie in Z for Zachariah.

His lawyer, Marilyn Gilchrist, refused to comment on the matter.

He is really hot, but such an idiot :( If there is ONE law you shouldn't ever try to break in my country it's drinking and driving! There's ads everywhere about it  :banghead: They take that stuff so seriously, but hey thank God the police actually take things seriously.

:/ sad for hearing that...he's way better than that. I hope it will serve as a lesson and do not do it again. Here in my country the laws are also quite strict on DUI, hope he's well.

Whitelaw, I'll end up giving you a good spanking if you keep this up.  :beating:

more about it...

Hollywood actor Chris Pine is believed to have been arrested for drink driving in Canterbury earlier this month.

Police confirmed a 33-year-old American man was stopped for a routine drink drive test near Methven early on the morning of March 1. The man is due to appear in the Ashburton District Court next week on a charge of driving with excess blood alcohol.

Several media outlets have identified Pine – in the country filming Z for Zachariah – as the defendant; however a publicist for the film could not be reached for comment.

Details have since emerged of a Z for Zachariah wrap party held at Methven's Blue Pub on March 1, the day Pine was allegedly arrested.

Bar manager Casey Crawford told 3 News around 70 or 80 cast and crew booked out the pub for the evening and Pine was "really, really, really well behaved".

"It was a good night but it wasn't anything outrageous," he said. "I have more trouble with rugby teams on a Saturday night than I did with this crew."

Mr Crawford said drivers were available to the group and had been taking people to and from their accommodation throughout the night.

The party ran until 3am, with crew members watching a blooper reel and eating finger food. Mr Crawford said Pine left around 2am.

The actor is a recent up-and-comer in Hollywood and has starred in a number of films including Star TrekUnstoppable and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

He's been on set for Z for Zachariah in Canterbury's Banks Peninsula over the last few months. Pine is one of three big stars bunking down in the region, including Oscar nominee Chiewetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street).

Star Trek star Chris Pine pleads guilty to drink driving

A calm Chris Pine signed autographs and spoke with fans as he emerged from the Ashburton District Court following his high-profile appearance this morning.

A large group of local teenage girls - who were lucky enough to be on a teacher only day - waited outside with a swag of national media before Pine came out of court shortly after 11am.

"It's all good guys, it's all going to be okay,'' he said as fans and media crowded in on him.

He spent about 30 seconds with fans, local teen Harriet Lane, 16, getting her Star Trek DVD signed by the Hollywood star, before he walked through the media scrum to his awaiting BMW 4WD and was escorted away.

He did not respond to any media questions following his guilty plea to the drink driving charge before Judge Joanna Maze.

She convicted him and he was fined $93 in reparation for the blood test, and disqualified from driving for six months. No fine was imposed because he had made a sizable donation to charity Cure Kids.

Fans screamed as he was driven away, and shared stories about their experience with the actor.

"That was awesome, I got so many photos of his face, and I touched his beard, that was so exciting,'' one fan said.

Momentum built from 9am as media outlets from across the country converged on the small district court.

The Ashburton District Court found itself in the unusual position of facing the media glare.

While Pine's court case is the headline story of the day, the `big-name-comes-to-small-town' sideshow added another element to this bizarre case that has gripped media across the world.

TV crews and photographers milled for about an hour talking with fans and among themselves, many wondering if the 33-year-old would even show for his court date as rumours circulated he was still in Sydney.

When he did, shortly after 10am, he was faced with questions from the media but made no comment as he was accompanied into court by at least two unidentified wingmen.

His demeanor was calm throughout.

Chris Pine Talks About His Beard and (Untouchable) Brows with Allure

Allure.com — Action star Chris Pine is willing to train with weights, give up pasta, and slather his body in makeup for a role. But he won’t touch his eyebrows. “When I first started out, everyone thought they were too much. In my first job, they dyed them. Then another tried to pluck them, and that looked awful. Now I won’t let them touch my eyebrows,” says Pine. The actor and new face of Armani Code fragrance hopped on the phone to tell us about the rest of his grooming routine.

You’ve been rocking a beard lately. What’s your typical grooming routine like?

“I really like the ritual of shaving. I like getting the perfect brush and finding the right sandalwood soap. The act of shaving, though, is not fun. I like beards and the ease of them.”

How do you groom a grown-out beard?

“It’s about finding the right beard brush. I was out of town recently and got a shoe-brush polisher for my beard. It’s a bit rougher than usual, but it’s good at shaping it. I could talk beard all day.”

You have to wear makeup a lot for your job. Anything you do to keep your face clear?

“I have such awful skin; it doesn’t matter what magic serum they think they’re putting on—I’ll usually break out. For me, it’s good to wash my face afterward and take a washcloth to remove the residual makeup before I end up on the couch. I’ve used Dr. Hauschka for years.”

Any products you’ve stolen from the women in your life?

“Argan oil. A woman was putting oil on her skin after a day in the sun, and we got to talking. It’s great for your skin and hair.”

Any favorite treatments?

“Massages, for sure. I like a deep sports massage—a casual beating up. I try to get them whenever I can, usually more if I’m getting in shape for a role.”

You’re the new face of Armani Code.

What do you like about that fragrance?

“I like that it’s complex and builds and shapes itself as you wear it. It’s got a lighter, floral top note, then nice base notes. I’m a big fan of sandalwood and tobacco smells and what it becomes toward the end.”

Do you remember your first fragrance?

“It was when I was 13 or 14 and starting to look at girls. I remember it was all about what the girls are going to like. As I got older it became more about what I was comfortable in. The big ones when I was a kid were CKOne and Cool Water. Those were the jam.”

What makes a good fragrance?

“It should be an extension of yourself—like a good piece of clothing or a well-tailored suit. It’s something that either defines a part of you or all of you.”

How do you like a woman to smell?

“It’s more about how she wears a scent. I like a fragrance that you notice and want to find out more about—get a bit closer. I don’t want to walk in and be jolted awake by someone’s smell. Naturally, I like smoky, woody, earthy scents.”

Have you ever had to get a spray tan or wear body makeup for a scene?

“They’ll usually give you a once-over with sponges and dark makeup to make you look less Waspy. I don’t think twice about it. It’s part of the gig, and having a tan certainly makes you look better, even if it’s gross.”

What’s your go-to diet and exercise routine for getting in shape fast?

“It depends. For the last Star Trek, I wanted to be a bit bigger and chunkier. I ate a lot and worked out religiously. I do yoga, boxing, circuit training, and weight lifting. I have a high metabolism so I always have food in my refrigerator and pack snacks with me.”

Any indulgences you give up?

“I couldn’t eat as much pasta as I normally like to eat. It’s all about a high-calorie diet and not a lot of empty carbs. But it’s not like I’m getting into jacked Wolverine shape. I cheat all the time.”
